I took part in the Calm & Joy catalyst and it made a huge difference to how I felt about my day and my enjoyment of life. I still make sure I prioritise small moments of joy 2 years on.
Thank you, Julie! I remember us talking about it in a live session, makes me so happy to know that all this time later you're still making space for your own joy x
Love this. Our society is built on the idea of delayed gratification, but the gratification never arrives! So screw it, eat the cake for the breakfast right now. Feel joy right now. Life is for living, and I’ve had enough of putting it off for some non existent future date!
Love this post! 💗 When I was about 10 we stayed with some friends in Germany and they had homemade plum cake with cream for breakfast on Sunday morning and I thought it was the most wonderful thing! ☺️
Hi Gabrielle, sadly not 😂 BUT when my boys were younger we always had a cream tea breakfast on Christmas morning with fresh berries and for their birthdays they get to chose whatever they like… last year one son chose chocolate covered waffles and berries … which I couldn’t find anywhere the day before so I had to make my own by melting chocolate and let’s just say the kitchen was a scene of chocolate destruction 🍫 Also I’m still partial to cake breakfast if I’ve baked a cake 😌
Yes to all of this! I really struggle with the ‘eat the frog’ concept. I like to warm up to my day with a pot of tea & some nice easy quick win tasks before I jump into the harder stuff. Although I am still rubbish at taking time to fully relax & not feel guilty about it!
Warming up with a few easy quick wins (and tea always helps) is a beautiful way to describe it. You're very much not alone in finding it hard to relax and the guilt with trying to. If you have a drive within you to keep going, to keep doing, along with society telling women that we need to be taking care of everything and everyone else before we can relax, it's no wonder that we find it so difficult!
So true, I know things are getting better for us but there’s still so much to be done. It will be a long time before we’re able to shift the mental load and weight of expectation of what it is to be a woman. We need society to make the shift. And yes, it’s so difficult to switch off and relax, our body relaxes but how often are our minds relaxed?

Yes, Hannah! There's delayed and there's never shows up – no more putting off!
This is just such a joyful post. Thank you for starting my weekend off on such a joyful note
You are so very welcome, Louise! I'm wondering what joy your weekend holds for you…
We are blessed with sunshine today so it was a quick visit to a street market to buy snacks and eat churros with chocolate.
Sounds delish!
What a joyful read on a Saturday morning. Thank you!
Let's start the weekend (and life) as we mean to go, right, Helen?!

That IS so wonderful - I love that. Breakfasts in Germany were a thing of wonder I remember.
Life goals right there, Karen! Did your family bring that tradition home at all?

Cream tea Christmas breakfast sounds dreamy! And if you baked the cake why not whenever you jolly well like 👍
What a beautiful piece and invitation. ✨
Thank you, Claire, I'm so looking forward to sharing the month of calm and joy.
