Welcome to The Haven…
…a place where you can take a breath, find comfort and understanding, inspiration and ideas to overcome your overwhelm and move forward with more calm and joy.
You know previously I’ve mentioned that I’m thinking of this space on Substack as a bit like a magazine? (A soothing, uplifting read, not one of those mags that makes you feel bad just for being you.)
Well, consider this post to be the news page of sorts! There’s all kinds of news I want to share with you so I thought I’d put it all in this one place.
Here are the headlines:

UK Health Radio
I listened to Janey Lee Grace on Steve Wright’s Radio 2 afternoon show for years and then I got to talk with her for UK Health Radio!
We chatted about a whole range of aspects related to wellbeing and burnout including people-pleasing and overdoing, the importance of taking care of your wellbeing now and not waiting until you crash, the roles organisations play in our exhaustion and so much more.
You can listen to the conversation here.
A biccie with your book
The fabulous Caroline at The Kitsch Hen made me these gorgeous biscuits to celebrate the publication of my book and my first ever bookshop talk.
Lucky for you I ordered too many, and I’ve been restrained enough to not eat them myself, which means that the first 5 people to order a copy of The 1% Wellness Experiment from my website will get this delicious biscuit (and more treats, not the pup, if that’s what you’re thinking) to enjoy with their read.
Plus p&p is free on all book orders! If you’d like your book signed I can do that too :)

Podcast sparkle
I’ve known Claire for a few years, having met her at a Make & Mend Festival where we were both speaking, so it was a treat to get to talk with her for her Sparkle on Substack podcast.
We talked about what we both find helps our wellbeing, how The 1% Wellness Experiment book deal came about, the January Experiment-along, creativity and wellbeing, and much more!
I also read aloud one of the Experiment chapters from the book so you’ll get a taste for it when you listen.
You can find episode 12 of Claire’s Sparkle on Substack podcast here. I’d love to hear what you take away from our conversation.
Find your inner calm
I’ve read Psychologies magazine for many, many years and been lucky enough to be featured in it a few times.
But this is new for me – I was asked to contribute to the Dossier in the March issue as one of their ‘experts’!
And on my most favourite of topics – calm – how to find and keep it, and its relationship with self-compassion and contentment.
The issue is packed, as always, with so much wise, inspiring and helpful advice and suggestions. Let me know if you pick up a copy and read the feature.
For people who support other people
For anyone who supports other people, and by doing so their wellbeing, it can be a lot.
Whether you work in an organisation like a charity or you’re self-employed you’re holding space for individuals as they go through challenging changes, navigate transitional spaces and experience growth.
To support others it’s vital you are supported yourself.
To have a judgement-free space where you can reflect on what feels challenging whether it’s personal, with clients, in your workplace, with colleagues or management.
A place where you have the freedom to share your frustration, doubts and fears, where you can reflect and make plans to move forward and have the opportunity to celebrate your successes, growth and yourself!
Having been a coach for several years I know how wonderful and challenging the work can be, and how important and valuable having support for yourself is as you do this work.
Which is why I am now offering supervision (bit of a misnomer because it’s not about checking up on or monitoring you) to people who support other people. You could be a coach, a wellbeing practitioner, a nutritionist, a holistic therapist, a team leader… if your work, with individuals or in groups or teams, involves other people's feelings, this is for you.
To find out more, and we can have a chat about it, take a look at the info page here.
“Gabrielle holds space exquisitely, there’s a gentleness that is powerful, it’s a way of saying she’s got you. You feel accepted, seen, she shares her safety with you.” – Sarah
Phew, there was a lot to share with you :)
