An update
It's like a proper newsletter with news and everything!
Pre-S: I help quiet, introverted, sensitive women who have, or think they have, ADHD (maybe with autism too) to understand their brains and build inner calm and confidence to be their true selves. Take a look at the Quiet ADHD Club, I made it especially for you.
Hi lovely,
This time the newsletter is going to be heavy on the news because I have lots to share with you! So let’s dive right in…
Stop saying yes when you want (and need) to say no
Our deep dive topic in the Quiet ADHD Club this month is exactly this – how to stop saying yes when you want (and need) to say no. While people-pleasing certainly plays a part it’s not just that. There’s also saying yes because you really want to do the thing but when it comes to following through on that commitment you haven’t got the time, you’ve too much else on your plate, your energy is on the floor – you just don’t have the capacity.
In the Club we explore:
The protective yes – why saying no can feel unbearable when you’re scared of disappointing people or being rejected and what’s driving that
The hopeful yes – why even when you really want to say yes your ADHD brain struggles to accurately gauge your actual time and energy capacity
What’s happening in your brain and body that makes it hard to say no
Practical tools to deal with both so you can honour your time and energy without the guilt spiral

No-one talks about this aspect of ADHD
I’ve written a new personal post for the Quiet ADHD Club about the shame I carried for years while I was oblivious to my ADHD and how I’ve changed my thinking from ashamed to appreciative.
The post is free to read here.
And I spoke with Jessica Tefenkgi Ruelle 🌸 for her Whispers of Inner Power interview series about why women struggle to believe their own neurodivergence, how a late discovery impacts your future by how you view your past, why sensitivity is not a flaw and lots more! You can listen/watch here.
Early Bird special offer ending
The Early Bird offer for Better Read Book Fest – the UK’s first literary festival dedicated entirely to wellbeing books – is about to end! You have until Wednesday 17 June to save money on your ticket AND to get your hands on this very fetching bag filled with goodies.
And I’ll be talking with Toni Jones (who will be hosting the panel discussions at Better Read Book Fest) about the Festival – why I think it’s needed and what will happen on the day – in a Substack Live at 12pm BST on Tuesday. If you’re on Substack at that time you’ll get a notification that we’re live so you can join us.
You can check out the amazing authors who will be sharing their knowledge, experience and wisdom along with their books, and get your early bird tickets at betterreadbookfest.com.
You can listen to my latest Festival Diaries in Pressing Pause podcast episode 167 here.
Happy News
The latest issue of the Happy News is out now with the theme of creativity! I thoroughly enjoyed writing my thoughts on it (spoiler: we’re ALL creative) and the illustration by Angela Dios (Eya) is just gorgeous.
I’m taking to heart the good news I read in the newspaper that a study has found a 15mins afternoon nap improves brain capacity, the ability to think clearly and concentrate!
And congratulations to the newspaper’s founder, Emily, her husband Niall and their family as they welcome their brand new baby girl into the world ❤️
15 Lessons
In case you missed it I wrote a piece here in the Haven about 15 lessons I learned from 15 years working for myself that apply to life just as much as they do to business. You can read it here.
Phew, that’s it for now! Think that’s plenty to be getting on with.
Until next time,
